Vaccination Records & Medical Exams
  • No routine medical examinations or general vaccination records are required for Indian citizens traveling to Kazakhstan under the 14-day visa-free regime.
  • Yellow Fever & Poliovirus: Required only if you are arriving from a designated yellow fever-endemic area (applicable to travelers aged 9 months or older).

Things to know

Key Insider Tips from Travellers
1. Immigration vs. Paperwork Reality
• The on-the-ground check: While official rules state you should carry return flight tickets, hotel reservations, and proof of funds for the 14-day visa-free entry, travelers on Reddit note that immigration officers often stamp passports quickly with little questioning. However, always carry printed copies just in case, as budget airlines or random spot-checks can still demand them.
• Passport Validity: Ensure your passport has at least 6 months of validity remaining and plenty of blank pages.

2. Money, Cards & Cash
• Kaspi Dominance: Locals rely almost exclusively on Kaspi QR / cashless apps. Because of this, many small shops, taxis, and vendors frequently run out of cash for change.
• Indian Cards: Indian debit/credit cards (such as SBI, HDFC, and Niyo global cards) work well in major hubs like Almaty and Astana as long as international transactions are pre-enabled on your app.
• Avoid Airport Exchange: Do not exchange large sums of cash at the airport, as rates are heavily marked up. Use local rate trackers like Kurs.kz to find fair exchange bureaus in the city.
• Carry Some Cash: While cities are cashless, you will still need physical Kazakhstani Tenge (KZT) if you venture into villages or rural/mountain areas.

3. Getting Around & Scams
• Skip Street Taxis: Do not hail random street cabs or negotiate airport rides manually. Download and use Yandex Go for reliable, transparently priced rides.
• SIM Cards / Connectivity: Pick up a local SIM card (Beeline, Tele2, or Kcell) right after landing so your Yandex Go and maps work seamlessly.

4. The 14-Day Limit & Visa Runs
• The visa-free stay is strictly capped at 14 days per entry.
• If you plan to stay longer (up to 30 days), you must apply for an e-Visa before departure rather than relying on visa-on-arrival (which does not exist for Indians). Some travelers historically crossed over to neighboring Kyrgyzstan for a "visa reset," though cumulative limits apply (e.g., 90 days within any 180-day window)
