Things to know
- Travel Authorisation (STA): Mandatory online clearance via the Seychelles Electronic Border System. Apply well in advance (up to 30 days prior); airlines in India strictly check for the STA QR code at check-in and will deny boarding if it is missing.
- Passport Validity: Official law says valid for duration of stay, though airlines enforce at least 6 months validity from the date of arrival. Ensure your passport has a full 6-month buffer to avoid issues at Indian departure counters.
- Accommodation & Proofs: Must show confirmed hotel/resort bookings covering 100% of your stay across all islands. Carry printed copies; immigration officers may scrutinize unverified or missing island-hop vouchers.
- Financial Proofs: Expected to show sufficient funds (approx. USD $150 per day). Bank statements, international credit cards, or cash (USD/EUR) should be readily accessible.
- Local Costs & Food: Seychelles is a high-cost island destination. According to Travel Discussions, takeout meals are the cheapest option (₹400–₹600 per plate), while standard restaurants can easily exceed ₹3,500 for a simple meal for two.
- SIM Cards & Connectivity: Available right at the airport arrivals hall. Airtel is widely considered the best provider for local coverage across the islands.
- Local Transportation: Options include rental cars, scooters, public buses, and inter-island ferries (Mahé, Praslin, La Digue). Renting a car or using ferries is common, though budgeting for petrol and car rental adds up quickly.
